Menopause is commonly referred to as the going through the change of life. Menopause is defined at the absence of a menses or “period” for 1 year. What is commonly referred to as the change is the perimenopausal time, which can be several years prior to and after the onset of menopause. Many women can experience life altering symptoms that greatly affect their quality of life.

These may include:

  • Vaginal Dryness
  • Mood Swings
  • Fatigue
  • Hair Loss or Thinning
  • Menopause Sleep Disorders
  • Difficulty Concentrating
  • Disturbing Memory Lapses
  • Dizziness
  • Weight Gain
  • Incontinence

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Irritability
  • Feelings of Dread

  • Burning Mouth Syndrome
  • Electric Shock Sensation
  • Digestive Problems
  • Gum Problems
  • Increased Tension in Muscles
  • Itchy, Crawly Skin
  • Tingling Extremities
  • Osteoporosis (after several years)

These symptoms can be very challenging, but they can be treated and greatly improved by using hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for the appropriate candidate. At Vitality we only use bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT), which are hormones that are identical to what your body makes. We do not advocate using any of the synthetic equine estrogens or progestins. If you have any of these symptoms and would like to know what your options are for relief. You will need a thorough assessment of your health history, symptoms and laboratory result can help us know for sure. We can use traditional laboratory tests and results, as well as, our preferred ZRT kit. This kit allows for measurement of blood and saliva tests. Benefits of saliva testing are a greater estimation of free levels of testosterone, estradiol and progesterone, to name a few. The free levels are the only part of the hormone that can be metabolically active. Call Vitality for an appointment ((828) 322-1498) or make an online request to get you on your way to feeling the best that you can.

Andropause (Male Menopause)

Andropause (low T syndrome): Men, like women, experience a decrease in the sex hormones that can lead to varying effects in the body. Some men sail through this without any noticeable symptoms, while other can be affected greatly. The testes produce nearly 95% of all male testosterone. The balance is supplied by the adrenal glands. They also produce small amounts of estrogen. The brain produces the pituitary hormones follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH), which trigger hormone production from the testes. As a man gets older, testosterone levels fall and estrogen levels tend to rise. What are the symptoms of lower testosterone levels?

The range of symptoms is impressive and can include:

  • Bone Loss
  • Decrease Mental Clarity
  • Decrease Muscle Strength
  • Decrease Stamina
  • Decrease Urine Flow
  • Depression
  • Erectile Dysfunction
  • Hot Flashes
  • Increased Abdominal Fat
  • Increased Urge to Urinate
  • Irritability
  • Low Sex Drive
  • Mood Swings
  • Night Sweats
  • Poor Concentration
  • Sleep Disturbances

If you suffer from any or a combination of these symptoms, you may be suffering from low T. However only a thorough assessment of the health history, symptoms and laboratory result can help us know for sure. We can use traditional laboratories and results, as well as, our preferred ZRT kit*. This kit allows for measurement of blood and saliva tests. Benefits of saliva testing are a greater estimation of free levels of testosterone, which is the only part of the hormone that can be metabolically active. In the body we have proteins, particularly sexual hormone binding globulin (SHBG) that has a high affinity to testosterone and other sex hormones. Once the hormone is bound it is unable to work at the tissue level. Other benefits include a greater range of hormone testing including the creation of a daily cortisol curve to assess for problems with adrenal fatigue.

If you are suffering from these symptoms call today ((828) 322-1498) for an appointment with one of our health care providers, most major insurances are accepted.

*Please note that the ZRT kits are not covered by any insurance companies, as ZRT labs do not contract with insurance companies.

Bioidentical Hormonal Replacement Therapy

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement therapy refers to compounds that are chemically identical to the hormones produced in the body. These compounds are derived either by natural plant derivatives or synthetically replicated. Both are Bioidentical. We do not use equine (horse) estrogens or progestins. These are not identical to the hormones in the body and may have unintended responses in the body.

Bioidentical Hormonal Pellet Implants

Bioidentical Hormone Pellets are placed under the skin and are specially compounded to release into the body slowly and steadily. On average, hormone pellets are replaced every 3-4 months in women and 5-6 months in men.
